Dear Mam or Man,
It's the final week of Jasper's show at Sartorial Contemporary Art which =
is open this week from Tuesday to Saturday from 1.30pm to 6.30pm for =
your final chance to see Buck Naked paintings for the first time, or to =
take a second look. (go to www.sartorialart.com for details)
What other people said:=20
John Paul Pryor, Dazed Digital=20
"Jasper Joffe is one of those artists whose personality is as large as =
the faux-na=EFve, often psychotic and regularly grotesque scenes he =
swiftly commits to canvas. His latest collection of work 'Buck Naked =
Paintings' currently showing at The Sartorial Gallery are an incredible =
collection that are at once both disturbed and uncomfortably amusing, =
something akin to a middle class suburban swingers party on brown acid.
Jasper disseminates modern life into it's lowest common denominators and =
sex, death, shit and stupid smiles tend to abound in his figurative =
work; almost like he is intent on exhibiting an insouciant =
predisposition for taking the piss out of Lucien Freud.
There is no pretentiously crafted existential dilemma to be found here, =
these figures are simply ugly in their desperate search for masturbatory =
kicks, a generation at the fucked up, mindless, orgiastic end of a =
moronic rollercoaster ride, worshipping the dollar and attending the =
flesh markets; apocalyptic, hideous and, above all else...hollow. Rather =
like those capitalistic bohemian bourgeoisie who believe it's a cleverly =
knowing aside to create a skull studded with diamonds while half the =
planet starves."

Jessica Lack, Guardian Guide
"It would be easy to mistake Jasper Joffe's charm for egomania. The =
painter and novelist with a poker habit has a way of describing his =
pictures in bombastic terms. Yet, like all good card sharks, Royal =
College graduate Joffe is precociously talented. He once locked himself =
in the Chisenhale Gallery and painted 24 pictures in 24 hours, but his =
new exhibition, Buck Naked, is all about the body, and Joffe somehow =
makes a ragged collection of figures with saggy skin and warty faces =
performing a series of brutal penetrations undeniably compelling. =
Scratched into the bodies are slogans, profanities, unwanted advice and =
gruesome tattoos that seem to tear the very skin off the figures, =
revealing Joffe's disdain for racial stereotypes."
